A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream. William Shakespeare
In the 60’s, holiday resorts in Europe started incorporating theatrical plays of different quality and size as a part of their evening entertainment programmes. The performances were held outdoors during the summer and in indoor theatres during the winter. The setting and staging were done in situ with lower costs and in shorter times. These settings needed to last an entire season and be assembled and disassembled in a da, following the winter weekly schedule (during the “white week” or little winter escape,) and bi-weekly or tri-weekly during the summer.
For the outdoors setting of A mid-Summer Night’s Dream, the representative spaces were reduced to two -the outskirts of a city, and a forest. Each space was represented by a 3 by 6-meter curtain. One was wound over the other, pulled down when there was a change of scene, and rolled up at the end of the scene.n the 60’s, holiday resorts in Europe started incorporating theatre plays of different quality and size as a part of their evening entertaining programmes.
